Course Description:

Obstetric Critical Care is a distinct entity with focus being divided between maternal well being and fetal safety. The one-day workshop on Obstetric Critical Care is an initiative of the ISCCM to impart knowledge on the specific aspects related to the care of critically ill obstetric patients. This workshop also serves as the supplementary contact program for the online module on Obstetric Critical Care launched by the ISCCM as its contribution to reduction in maternal mortality rates in this country. The program includes structured approach to key clinical problems encountered during the care of a critically ill expectant or parturient mother. Hands on training on basic aspects of critical care delivery will also be imparted culminating in a simulation based training for a maternal code blue situation.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand the step wise approach to common problems encountered in the care of critically ill Obstetric Patients
• Understand the basics of interpretation of Blood gas analysis, CPR and Airway management in the Obstetric population
• Learn the basics of life sustaining interventions like Resuscitation, Mechanical Ventilation and Hemodynamic Monitoring from the experts
• Face real life situation like simulation scenarios under the tutelage of key opinion leaders in the field
